"一下"放在动词后面，表示动作时间短，或者只是试一试。用在请求里，语气更客气、更轻松。

一下 (yíxià) after a verb makes the action short and casual: 看一下 "take a quick look", 休息一下 "rest for a bit". In requests it softens the tone, so 你看一下 sounds friendlier than a bare 你看. An object comes after 一下: 看一下报纸.
